Hello dear reader, An update to the last blog, I have received criticism for it from certain people with motivations that elude my understanding, but it seems they were proven at least partially correct - Silksong footage was shown and the game was given a release date of 2025. I've never played Hollow Night, I've heard it's good but starting a new story is difficult. Exposition is always the most boring part of a story to me, but also the most necessary to actually be immersed in the world. You'd think this would mean I'm a huge fan of sequels, but I'm naturally skeptical that sequels of good stories will be good due to reversion to the mean. That and the fact that part of what makes a story good is a good ending, and a good ending doesn't leave much room for a sequel.
I find it quite funny that my decision to start blogging came at a time that my thoughts were quieting down. Just a week ago I would have been able to dump my stream of consciousness onto this webpage. I think I'll write a longer blog post this weekend. I'm rather busy with uni work at the moment though, so I don't have a ton of time until the weekend to devote to sitting here typing. That said, I suppose nothing is stopping me from just going on now.
Part of me wants to go back to working on Astrostead. I haven't worked on it in a while, mostly since I've been getting my fill of coding from university recently. I started the project as an attempt to re-energize myself, since I found myself getting bored of university work. I like the spherical/cylindrical voxels. I think they work better than having normal voxels make a sphere or cylinder because you can be at arbitrary angles and it still works. It might be difficult to figure out certain things down the line though. For instance, I have no idea how I'm going to figure out transparency. Liquids are something I would like to be a part of Astrostead at some point but from both a physics perspective and a rendering perspective they present significant challenges. I realize I have not explained to you, dear reader, what Astrostead actually is. I'll save that for a future blog, when I start actually working on it again. For now development on it is dormant.
These websites are just html/css. I could add something fancy someday, like images or embeds. As I said though, I'm getting more than my fill of coding. Farewell, dear reader.
